Webswell Connect

Webswell Connect is complex business integration solution based on ebXML standards.It comprises methodologies, techniques and software components. Implementing the Connect solution, client gets ready for e-business transactions with other parties supporting ebXML communication standards.

Webswell Connect technological infrastructure consists of several components:

• Webswell Broker
Webswell Broker is a module responsible for ebXML message processing. On one side it generates ebxml message (communicating with Application Connector for instance) and passes it to the Message Service Handler for sending, on the other side it receives a message from the Message Service Handler, parses it and passes it through the Application Connector to the relevant business application for further processing.
• Application Connector
A module that represents the interface between customer's existing application (e.g. ERP) and other components of the integration platform (Webswell Broker in our case). The Application Connector must reflect local configuration of IT infrastructure and security policy.
• Message Service Handler (MSH)
MSH is responsible for transmitting messages (business documents) among business partners. Big attention is payed here on reliability and security of communication. Webswell Connect uses open source MSH implementation called Hermes (see http://www.freebxml.org ), which is probably most promising existing MSH implementation.
• Registry and Repository
EbXML Registry/Repository are two of the key elements of full ebXML integration solution. There is exposed information about companies participating in integration (or willing to participate) like company profiles, scenarios of services and business processes descriptions. This information represents the company's ebXML capabilities.
EbXML Repository is used as storage of the data whereas ebXML Registry holds metadata about data stored in the ebXML Repository, it is kind of an interface to the Repository. EbXML Registry therefore provides functionality that enables searching and sharing information among trading partners.
We are currently using ebXML Registry/Repository implementation ebxmlrr from http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net.
• Administration Console
Web-based application that enables administration of Application Connector, MSH and Repository and Registry. It also provides the administrator with diagnostic features and extensive statistical information.

Webswell Connect uses ebXML as a fundamental standard for communication, other tools and techniques are specific to client's needs.
